Land Research Center - Jerusalem
Land Research Center – Jerusalem (LRC) was founded in 1986 at Jerusalem as part of the Arab Studies Society, established by late Faisal Husseini as an Ottoman Jerusalemite association.
LRC`s vision is to achieve a decent life for the Palestinian People on their land and in their sovereign, democratic state. The Center believes that a decent life for Palestinian men, women, boys and girls requires an awareness of one`s universal human rights, liberation of mankind and land, in addition to the rule of law and the elimination of all forms of discrimination, whether based on race, religion, gender or other arbitrary basis. LRC seeks the protection of Palestinian property and freedom of opinion in accordance with international human rights law and standards.
LRC’s mission is to empower Palestinians to access, use and control their natural resources in an equitable and sustainable manner. The Center was established in the mid-1980s to peacefully confront Israel`s iron fist policy. Since then, it has focused on defending Palestinian`s secure tenure to their lands, houses, trees, farms, environment, other property rights and restitution of those that have been confiscated, grabbed, demolished, uprooted or ravaged by the Israeli occupation.
During its long, 40-year operation, LRC expanded a base of distinguished relations with a large number of local, regional and international institutions and bodies based on constructive cooperation and joint struggle. Within this broader alliance, LRC operates four key Programs:
- Right to Land and Housing
- Sustainable Development
- Research and Information
- Right to Housing in Jerusalem
To support these programs, the Center has succeeded to establish and maintain a statistical database as a vital reference for LRC, its community and local and international bodies. In its documentation and reporting capacity, LRC has contributed numerous uniquely important reports featured on websites and in publications dsiributed with HIC-HLRN. Among them is the current report commenorating the 77th Nakba Day (15 May 2025).
